Signature Objects
Klatt Objects unfolds a broad collection of sophisticated collector’s pieces and artistic uniques. At its heart are extraordinary designs in fine bone china, wooden sculptures and paintings by international artists.
The rhizome – a symbol of strength and new life. The botanical phenomenon of the rootstock inspired Detlef Klatt to create a vase with an extraordinary silhouette. The RHIZOM vase is a striking object with an organically flowing form, whose upward-opening stems invite ever new floral creations to grow from within. Its sculptural character decouples design from function and turns it into a unique focal point.
Detlef Klatt designed this elaborate vase back in 2019 – driven more by his love of design than by commercial considerations. In 2024, the RHIZOM vase was honoured with the German Design Award as a "Winner" in the category “Excellent Product Design – Home Textiles and Home Accessories”.
The elaborate vase object METAMORPHOSE TESTUDINARIA is dedicated to a fascinating caudex plant from the warm climates of North and Central America. Its defining feature is a deeply furrowed tuber, growing up to 50 cm in size, which has earned the species the names elephant’s foot and turtle plant. Twelve differently sized, carefully balanced openings invite you to create individual floral decorations in tune with the season and your personal taste. For particularly secure arrangements, the intricately crafted base continues the pattern seamlessly and provides extra stability.
From day one, the “heads” have been a defining element of the Klatt Objects collection. Strength, tranquillity, contemplation, hope – each bust tells its own story. What that story is lies entirely in the eye of the beholder.
Alongside porcelain, natural wood is one of the preferred materials in the Klatt Objects collection. The striking pieces are crafted using traditional techniques, with the surfaces deliberately left roughly worked to preserve their original rawness. Cracks and knots lend these decorative sculptures a sense of authenticity and personality.
The ROBOTER series tells a very special story – characterful sculptures, hand-carved and assembled from found and driftwood that, in the Philippines, is both a curse and a blessing. Up to ten times a year, typhoons hit the islands, destroying landscapes, houses and boats and scattering their remains across the land. Through this particular artisanal discipline, people in the Philippines have found a way to let something beautiful and meaningful emerge from destruction. The youngest member of the Klatt Objects collection is ROBODOG – a declaration of love from the designer to the stray dogs that have become a familiar sight on many streets and beaches in the Philippines.
The Klatt Objects collection is further enriched by works from selected artists. A permanent highlight is the expressive series of portraits by Cuban artist Abel Massot.
