GOOD TO KNOW
Welcome to Klatt Objects! Here you will find helpful tips and tricks on materials, care and the art of showcasing flowers to striking effect.
The great advantage of bone china lies not only in its exceptionally pure colour, but also in its remarkable strength. This allows Fine Bone China to be crafted to an especially thin profile, which is what makes the delicate designs in the Klatt Objects collection possible in the first place. Despite their slender silhouettes, even the most intricate pieces are surprisingly robust and easy to care for.
There is no need to worry about discolouration: all Klatt Objects vases, bowls and vessels – whether their surfaces are glazed or unglazed with a softly sanded matte finish – can simply be cleaned in the dishwasher. This also applies to the delicate weaves of the GAZE series and the grid structure of the HANA flower‑arranging dish.
Stubborn organic stains can often be removed with a little lemon, soda or a a gentle cleaner with a mild bleaching effect (for example bathroom cleaners containing chlorine or mould removers).
Other superficial stains on the matte, unglazed porcelain, such as marks caused by colour transfer, can usually be removed easily using a scouring sponge, a dirt eraser, a mild scouring cream or very fine sandpaper. To clean the interior, you can, if needed, use denture cleaning tablets or standard hygiene cleaners, although in most cases a regular dishwasher cycle will be entirely sufficient. Treated with this kind of care, Klatt Objects pieces will retain their beauty for a lifetime.
Tip: Cut flowers love clean water, so vases and vessels should always be thoroughly cleaned. All Klatt Objects porcelain pieces – even more elaborate designs such as the RHIZOM vase – can simply be placed in the dishwasher.
A touch of magic – flower arranging with the KENZAN.
A few flowers, grasses or branches from the garden, lovingly arranged – and you are done. The KENZAN is a little piece of magic that lets even beginners create beautiful floral arrangements with ease. With its roots in Japan, the KENZAN was traditionally used for the art of Ikebana – and today it is also available here in a variety of sizes and shapes to suit different stems and designs. Detlef Klatt, himself a master florist, is a great admirer of this clever pin holder, and all Klatt Objects KENZAN are still handcrafted in Japan.
Many benefits
The KENZAN is a sustainable alternative to artificial floral foam, as high‑quality versions like those from Klatt Objects can be reused for decades. Once you have one, your KENZAN is always ready to use.
“With the kenzan, we bring a touch of nature into our homes, and even with just a few flowers we can create wonderful, individual arrangements and showcase our favourite pieces in ever‑new ways.” – Detlef Klatt
With a kenzan, there is no need to hunt for the perfect vase, as your arrangements can be created in almost any vessel – from pots to bowls.
…and once you get used to it, you will quickly discover new and creative ways to use it again and again.
